Canadian speed metal pioneers Assault formed in 1985, releasing the cult classic “Survival On The Streets” in 1987. The band’s chugging, riff laden material is full of power, speed, dynamics, ground crawling vocals and thrashing in-your-face drums. Simply put – a tight, exciting, flat out attack.

Thirty years since they last assaulted audiences with their explosive sound, the band has returned with a new release “Kill For Your Life”. A previously unreleased album recorded in 88/89 that was intended as the follow-up to Assault's 1987 debut album "Survival In The Street".

Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max. I've gotten myself into GR by first getting their last album, then decided to give this one a go too. Atoms divide, life decays, seems we are into nuclear explosions here, that is how GR feels, a powerful and fast blitz and stormy riffs and groovy hardcorish - thrashy blasts. Highly recommended for all thrash lovers out there. Toxic Holocaust does come in mind, true that, Wraith, Municipal Waste fans should love this ! sachavonkarl74
